Fortune Teller
Puppet Maker
When very young children play together, one can
see they are unaffected by colour, social standing and many of the other prejudices they may acquire in later life. Britain has truly become a melting pot of diversity, with children from a variety of background and cultures. So, as adults parents and teachers how do we teach children to appreciate diversity? An important way is to take time to read books to them which successfully promote these ideas.
Village Folk Books by Andrew Segal are engaging, beautifully illustrated, easy to read, helping children to develop empathy with others by combining stories and feelings. Developing these feelings will help children be more balanced and to hopefully retain these admirable qualities as they get older.
